Charcoal's background

The background is slowly taking shape and the original size of this painting is 8000 x 5100 pixels now :p In 300 dpi. Was not meant to be that big when I split these two characters. So now it takes like forever to save this, resize it or making a

Sunday note

Sorry for the long gap in posts around here, but my other blog at http://www.christastjean.co.uk is more convenient (believe it or not) and that is also the blog I'm use to do my scribbles in.

So I figure that this blog will most likely be dying...or at least fade away in the background more and more.
I might keep it...I might not...we'll see.

Anyway...it's a new day, it's Sunday and it's sunny and warm.
Can't get any better than that :)

Steampunkbox is back up

The store at Steampunk Box went down when I switched hosting accounts...and unfortunately my brain worked in the wrong direction, which means that first I took it down and then I realized that maybe I should have said something before I dropped that account.
Oh well.

It's all there again anyway...shiny and brand new with some new items that you haven't seen.
Unless you've peeked in at Facebook or my other blog of course. In that case you already know.

The new linkie is here ---> http://www.steampunkbox.co.uk
Update it if you have the old one in your bookmarks :)

92 year old woman pregnant since 1948

In 1948, Chinese Huang Yijun could not afford to have her stillborn baby removed, so she decided to go on with her life and ignore the whole thing.
When she arrived to hospital recently with stomach pains, the doctors discovered that she carried her baby for the past 60 years.
No decomposition had occurred, which is usually the case when an embryo dies. Another common thing is that there's a big risk that the mother will not survive.
But Huang Yijun survived for 60 years.

Now tests are being done to decide if she should go through surgery to remove the stillborn baby.

Server trouble

As some of you know I spent a great deal of time moving a big art community from one hosting account to another. I also move my new blog to this account since I thought it was silly to pay for both a business account AND a personal hosting account.
Well...this morning when I sat down there was no files left on the server any more. The accounts were wiped clean.

I've contacted Support (they've got a live chat) and they are experiencing some technical problems...but they cannot guarantee that the files will be restored when this is fixed.
I have no clue what the heck happened, but I do know that I can't sell server space to clients if there's even a slight chance that this can happen now and then. Right now I don't even know if this is a problem they have on and off, or if it's a one time happening.

Yes, most of the time I do make backups of everything that is uploaded on a server, but since 200mb databases do fill a harddrive pretty quickly if you have to store them, I also wipe that sort of thing out after a while. And this time I just didn't get a chance to make any backups since the move of these blogs and this community was so fresh.
There's not more than 24 hours in one day.

We'll see what happens.
With a bit of luck everything will be restored, but from what I saw on the server status when I managed to login to the control panel, the backup server was down as well. And there won't be any time in the future to restore web sites all day long if this will happen once or twice a month.
So I might try to find another place and ask for a refund.
We'll see.

Other than that it's a new day, it's sunny and cold.

Painting Pingies VI

This is what I've done during the past…um…hours or so.
Nope, not ready yet, but it's in the right direction.

The background has changed…and there's a new pingie in the family, showing off his new set of pants and a turtle-neck :p
Still needs more detail to his clothing, but I thought I'd show you this so you don't think I'm lazy or anything ;)

And yes, there's a big ugly watermark taking shape as well. The main reason is that this is going up in Rosity as well, and they don't have any protection for download of images at all…and I'd really hate to see this end up some place with someone elses name on it.
Coz it's all mine :D

And that's it.
Back in Photoshop again ;)

Painting Pingies III

Well…I spent the last…eh…two or three hours dressing up my pingies a bit more. And I've given them a temporary background as well. I haven't really decided what to do about that bit yet, but it will follow…I hope :p

Put in some more details…like hats, scarves and a fishy tie :p There will be some pingies in the background as well…that much I do know…and some below the catwalk as audience. Will probably take another couple of days or more to finish this since my ability to focus is still very low. Ideas get stalled and there's not much you can do with a blank mind except from send it on a vacation ;)
North Pole, maybe? :p

More to come…

New bracelet

I did promise you some pictures of that bracelet today...and a tie clip. But that darn tie clip didn't want to pose :(

So we'll do this for now.

This might look terribly scratched, but it's not. The bracelet itself is almost copper colored, while that swirl is made of brass. Then there's details that are made of stainless steel, so it's a big mix of colors and metals in this, and almost impossible to get a decent photo of.

However, since I'm stubborn I had to try ;)

This will be up for sale shortly.

And as you can see in the sidebar, there's only one pair of cuff links left for sale at the moment. Everything else is gone.
Now I've got some pingies to continue painting ;)

Painting Pingies II

So here we go again.
I'm taking a break, watching an old episode of X-Files while pondering on new ideas for this painting. Since the last time I've added more details to the blue clothes on the pingie to the right...and I've painted another pingie in the middle. He's half dressed so far, but more will come :)
I also gave him some sun glasses since there's always one or two supermodels on the catwalk wearing shades :p
Usually big ones.

Now I've got some auctions to take a peek at and wait for the TV commercial to end.

Catch ya laters :D
